I am a 2011 Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) graduate who also received a year of studies from the Institute for Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ICAOM) in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am also enrolled in OCOM’s Doctoral degree program, and have been practicing locally since 2012. I also interned in two Nanjing, China hospitals under several famous Nanjing medical herbalists and acupuncturists during my master’s program and loved every minute of that experience. As a board certified medical Chinese herbalist, I often incorporate herbal formulas and other supplements into a treatment plan. In addition to acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas, electro-stimulation acupuncture, and Tuina massage techniques, I also use gentle styles appropriate for treating children where I mainly use non-insertive techniques such as Shonishin.
My specialties include treating women’s gynecological health, advanced pain management, and pediatric medicine. A myriad of pain conditions have long been the most common element of my practice, as nearly everyone has pain of some sort. I help your body to restore optimal function after surgeries or injuries and accidents, which includes acupuncture for healing from motor vehicle accidents (MVA). Since Oregon is a no-fault state, that mean any person involved in a car accident will be covered for treatments needed according to automobile insurance policy in Oregon, through Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage.
Most come seeking help for pain at first and later return for the other great benefits that they have then learned that acupuncture offers. Among those include stress reduction and hormonal regulation, sleep stabilization, improved digestion and energy. Auto-immune conditions and other syndromes such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue respond wonderfully to Chinese medicine therapies. I enjoy helping females balance difficult hormonal transitions such as the menstrual cycle onset, a stopped period, a painful period or irregular period, fertility concerns, pregnancy, postpartum, peri-menopause to menopause and beyond. Hey, I know, hormones can be a little crazy! As sensitive as humans are, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has flair for correcting imbalances in the endocrine system. In my opinion, children area a great joy. Coming from a big family, mother to a little girl, and an aunt to several more, your children are a welcome joy in my practice! I find that teenagers, younger kids and yes, babies too, are some of the best to work with because their youthful system will definitely respond quickly with a gentlest nudge.
You are an ideal patient for me if you are seeking extra support along your health journey. If you have been struggling with the limitations of a new ache or pain, a chronic condition or even a more severe disease or diagnosis, I invite you to give me a chance to work with you. My best patients understand or come to learn that attaining optimal health isn’t just a one time occasion. As owners of a human body, we all should come to realize that real health is a process that takes effort and commitment. I welcome you to join me at any point along your healing path. Some have come to a first acupuncture session after trying a non-needling treatment, such as Tuina (Chinese massage) or Shonishin (non-insertive techniques created for children) so please know that this is also an option.
I happily collaborate on integrative care treatment plans with your doctors and other providers, as an integrative approach is truly the most ideal for potentiating your healing time. Feel free to reach out by phone or email with any questions. Fifteen minute consults are always available when you call, and request one. At that time you are welcome to ask about my history on working with a patient like yourself. I will refer you out if you don’t seem like the patient I usually work best with. Similarly, I would love to give you a prognosis on what I would expect for healing your specific complaints. You can also just call to check if I am in-network with your insurance. I most likely am.
